Mahjabeen Zafar was born, raised, and then dropped in Karachi, Pakistan. She has spent the greater part of her life looking for a new home. This search led her to San Francisco, where she got her MFA from the University of San Francisco; Paris, where she got a broken heart; and Perugia, where she got severely depressed by the mediaeval mentality of the Italians. She now lives in Barcelona, Spain; whenever she really lives, she writes about it. She is currently working on her first novel, Turtle Season.
