Mel Wells is a graduate student in Book Publishing at Portland State University, where she is Assistant Manager of the editing workgroup for Ooligan Press. She has worked as an editor for Brigham Young University’s Office of Independent Study, Inscape, Indigo Editing, and Ooligan Press. She literally did a cartwheel when she won the 2008 Sledgehammer writing contest with her short story, Moving On. Originally from Idaho, Mel has fallen head-over-heels for Portland and its bike lanes, DIY mentality, vegan bakeries, and independent bookstores.
