Craft of Fiction Focus

We'll develop plot, character, scene, dialogue, and (gulp) revision techniques. Come with a manuscript in mind to work on or come ready to find your next great project. This workshop is for new and seasoned writers. Justin Hocking of Independent Publishing Resource Center will join us on the 4th Thursday to give a letterpress demonstration.

Jennifer Springsteen

meet Jennifer

Jennifer Springsteen received a 2008 Oregon Literary Fellowship for fiction. She was a finalist in Cutthroat Journal's 2008 short fiction contest, and has published in VoiceCatcher, Wordstock 10, and Front Porch newspaper. She has published newsletters and educational manuals with Washington State's department of education.

Jennifer graduated with a BA in Literature from Virginia Commonwealth University and with a Professional Collegiate License in Secondary English from Longwood College. She taught high school English for three years in Virginia before moving to the Northwest. She facilitated teaching and learning strategies with teachers and AmeriCorps members, Youth Volunteer Corps members and adjudicated youth.

 

 

Considerations

  • There is plenty of free street parking near the Dojo.
  • No shoes are worn inside the Dojo. Slippers welcome.
  • No smoking is allowed on the property.
  • Unfortunately, Writers' Dojo is not wheelchair accessible.
  • Just blocks from bus routes 17, 44, 4, 75, and 16.
